Bitcoin, apparently, should keep paying miners forever, and this talk walks through tail emissions and demurrage.

“keep paying miners forever” means fee-sniping models get messier fast.
miners being paid forever also means the security budget stops being a one-time subsidy problem and turns into a steady-state market for blockspace, which makes fee-sniping easier to reason about but also harder to ignore. if the tail emission is small, a few lucky blocks can still swing incentives a lot, so the exact subsidy curve matters more than the slogan suggests.
what i didn’t see spelled out is that any demurrage rule has to fight wallet behavior and exchange accounting, not just miner incentives.

No, it mostly means you’ve renamed inflation as “security” and hoped that sounds cleaner. The hard part is still the same, miners react to short-term fee spikes and orphan risk, while the perpetual tail just drags holders into paying for a budget nobody actually agreed to.
